The difference between ossified and velvet antlers
Complex scientific research on the chemical combination and physical properties of reindeer ossified horns and velvet antlers, as well as pre-clinical trials on supplements made of them, conducted in National Research Institute of Traditional Medical Treatment of Russian Health Ministry, have shown that specifically processed ossified reindeer antlers significantly differ from velvet antlers and have advantages listed below.
Ossified reindeer antlers contain a sufficient amount of iodine ( 0.01%), which is necessary for normal endocrine system activity, including thyroid gland, affecting protein and lipid exchange. Iodine is recommended to patients with atherosclerosis. It is safe to assume that the iodine in the horns is contained in the form of iodized derivatives of the amino acid tyrosine (tyronine, thyroxine, 3,5-
diyodotyrosine, 3,5,3-triiodothyronine, 3,3-diyodothyronine, etc.)
Ossified reindeer antlers contain macro- and micro-elements in the ratio and quantities most fully meeting the physiological requirements of the organism, while the content of elements in velvet antlers has not yet reached optimal level.
Discharge of ossified antlers is a natural process that happens annually: reindeer themselves shed the horns. Unlike the velvet antlers, sawing them off can kill the deer.
Conducted pre-clinical, pharmacological and toxicological tests show the absence of toxicity and allergenicity, ossified reindeer antlers' high adaptive activity, immunostimulating properties, and adsorption detoxification capacity, which neither velvet antlers nor drugs made of them possess.
Ossified reindeer antlers contain a large number of active elements of calcium and magnesium, barium, the basic elements of bone tissue, which are necessary for energetic activity of muscles of the heart, for processes of blood coagulation, etc.
Ossified reindeer antlers are recommended to be used in natural and only ground form, while velvet ones are used to produce alcohol extracts and tinctures containing only 4-5% of the obtained substances, hence 95% of the pants (including active ingredients) are not used and are wasted in the form of mill cake.
Due to low protein and peptide content, reindeer antler supplements are hypoallergenic and can be taken without limitation since 3 years old.
Ossified reindeer antlers have much fewer steroid compounds, including hormoneaffecting ones (estrogens, androgens, progesterone), 10 to 15 times less cholesterol, causing atherosclerosis, lipoid hyperplasia and other diseases.
Ossified reindeer antlers contain a large amount of manganese, an important element for the activation of regenerative processes in the body.
Ossified reindeer antlers contain a large amount of phosphorus, an essential element for strengthening bone growth, for normal functioning of the nervous
system, recommended in vascular hypotension, rickets, diatheses, etc.
Ossified reindeer antlers have an allowable (not exceeding) content of heavy toxic metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, molybdenum, cobalt, etc.). Thus, toxic metals are not accumulated during ossification.

having specific pharmacological properties of fundamentally different action than
the velvet antler drugs currently used.
